FS#2872 Allow user to set preferred UI language
Localization
2013-10-30Smile4ever
Currently there is no way to set the default user interface language on a per-user basis (like MediaWiki does), which is a shame when working with multilanguage wikis. The system pages default all to their English contents, even with the plugins translate and uilanguage installed. The option could be included on the page "Update profile" which could be renamed to My Preferences (so that others can add even more user preferences - it's just an opinion, of course).

(I should have put this comment in earlier)
I edited the title and task type, to change original 'bug report' into a 'feature request'.
yes and no. what would be needed in the core (or at least would be nice) to have a way for storing additional profile data (maybe a serialized array per user) and an easy way to let plugins add their own fields to the profile data.

I think I opened a feature request (some years ago?) for having a proper profile page and store more data per user and be able to hook into that. I just searched for it and cannot find it anymore.
