Hello,
I've been looking for a way to disable RSS and came across http://forum.dokuwiki.org/post/3725
Instead of "hacking" templates, a global option to disable RSS would be useful. I see no advantage in, i.e. every template author implement a option to disable rss.

I patched DokuWiki Release 2011-05-25a "Rincewind" to allow disabling RSS:
Usage: Add "rss" to disabledactions in admin menu

Why not?
Why do I want to disable Search or Recent Changes?
In my special case, RSS shows namespace which are not viewable to the public. You have to know the link to find these pages. I already disabled "Search" and "Recent Changes". -

So it's more security by obscurity? Why don't you use the ACL to restrict public access to the namespace. -

I ran several dokuwikis as "normal" homepages. There is no need for RSS as there are only static pages. Also when fixing a typo or so, there is no need for notification in form of RSS. -

ACL is not reasonable in my setup. I want something like Picasa albums. No password, you just have to know the link of the page.
And again I would have to ask, why can you disable for example Search or Recent Changes... Some people just want to...
This is such an easy patch. Just let the user decide, weather RSS should be available or not. -

I have other question - is there a chance to make a changes in default Dokuwiki RSS Feed where only start page is feeded?
This problem is partially solved by this plugin http://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:news but using it I have some problems - images and internal links doesn't want to put into newsfeed.
I'd like to see in default Dokuwiki RSS Feed an option where only start page is loaed to feed. Currently every changes of a single page are displayed in newsfeed even with sidebar page which shouldn't be displayed. It's annoying. -

You could add an action plugin which manipulates the Feed (see event objects FEED_* for details) or do a quick and dirty hack inside the feed.php. -
