FS#941 ordered list incorrect alignment
CSS, XHTML, JS, Browsers
2006-10-10exk72
When using an ordered list the numbers do not align to the text above or below.
It works properly in the print preview.
I confirm this, but only with an ordered list of 2 digits or more. As long as the list has less than 10 items it gets displayed properly aligned in my tests (Firefox 1.5.0.6).

It only works for me with the print preview with two digits. I didn't try three digits. (IE 6.0.2900.2180)
Sort of. 2.5em is correct for two didgit lists.
2.0em is correct for one lists less than ten.
Unless you can tell how many items are in a list
and then what em to apply, I think I'll stick to
2.0em as most more lists are single didgit.
I also noticed that the preview pane displays the
lists in another way. I'm not too fussed by that
and may be worth tweaking that at the same time.

I am afraid, there does not seem to be a satisfying solution to this problem.
2.0em for one digit ordered lists seems to be best, if there is only this list. But if you have that list *mixed with an unordered list*, you have a problem because the margin for them is the old 1.5em and they look weird when combined. Increasing the margin for unordered lists as well creates the problem that now *they* do *not align* to the text around anymore ...
This is not a DokuWiki problem but a general list styling problem ...
Maybe the best solution would be to increase the left margins for both types of lists. The only drawback would be that then they look indented. Which is IMHO better (because it is done like that in other programmes, eg. MS Word and OOo Writer) than "outdented" (which they are *now*).
