So, it seems that it is a bad idea to have an rss feed on a page that looks for recent changes within that namespace.
e.g. pages:main has a syndication {{rss>http://localhost/feed.php?type=rss2&mode=recent&linkto=page&ns=pages}}.
At first, it kinda worked, sometimes we would see an error on the page saying it was unable to process feed, other times it would work. Yesterday I guess the site broke some threshhold for pages within the pages NS, and it started seemingly looping (the rss feed would see changes on the main page because the rss feed would change, rinse, repeat). This completely killed the server dead.
The idea was to have a section of a page that was "Recent Changes". Perhaps there is a better/safer way of doing this?
Even if there is, the feed.php generator should probably ignore {{rss> syndications so as not to loop if someone pulls something similar.
Thankfully we figured it out.
Thanks much!
