I noticed that although DokuWiki claims to conform to the W3C CSS standard, it actually doesn't (CSS validation fails on most or all pages). It's just, I wouldn't place a button reading "Valid CSS" on each page, when it's actually not true :)

There were some propritary attributes introduced to make the spellchecker work. Unfortunately it isn't possible to make this work in a crossbrowser fashion without those attributes. Any hints on either making them pass the validation or to solve the problem without them would be very appreciated.

Why not make the spellchecker a plugin? This way, at least a fresh installation of DokuWiki would be free of proprietary extensions. If anyone wants to use the spellchecker, he/she could then install the plugin containing all the non-standard stuff.

Another method might be to add the needed style by javascript.

the propritary styles now are only loaded when the spellchecker is enabled in the config
