FS#427 Namespace Index
ACL & Authentication
It would be nice to have a possibility to hide namespaces in the Index based on user rights. i.e. users would see only the namespaces they are allowed to access.
I agree. Because I didn't want users to see namespaces they don't have access to, I decided to hide the index button in my wiki.
I think I wrote about that in the wiki once. The problem with hiding namespaces is, they can contain pages or subnamespaces with higher access rights. If I hide the top namespace in the index I can't access the subnamespaces in the index anymore even if I have the permissions for them. That's why namespaces are always visible.
How about implementing this as an optional feature either globally or so that it could be enabled only for desired namespaces? The reason why I made this request is that I have the need of setting up private workspaces for several groups so that they would see the index of the common area as well as their own area(s). At the moment the only way to do this is to set up several wikis and administer them separately.
