FS#311 Compatibility with Wikipedia syntax
Syntax
2005-05-08lugusto
Please, add compatibility with wikipedia syntax. This will go to facilitate lots of users: instead of memorize 2 syntax styles, meorizes only 1. (and, i need to use dokuwiki to write drafts to future addding in wikipedia; currently, if I use dokuwiki for it, I need to convert syntax format)

This is not planned. DokuWiki's syntax was used for a reason - it's much better to read in plaintext. Changing the syntax would break existing DokuWiki installations. However you could replace the inc/parser/parser.php file to render MediaWiki Syntax...

Tanks for the tip :)

If you do so, please share your code with us on the mailinglist or the wiki ;-)

someone could/should write a plugin for other wiki-syntaxes. It could use a <code>-like block:
<wiki mediawiki>
...mediawiki formatted text
</wiki>
This way it should be trivial to cut/paste text between mediawiki and dokuwiki, no syntax-breakage, and no parser-issues.
Just my 2 NOK.

I agree with Andi - DokuWiki's syntax is much better to read! For peoples who want change syntax will be interesting feature which enable syntax definition in /conf/dokuwiki.php or /conf/local.php files (I saw this elsewhere).
