The problem is the top margin of div.dataplugin_entry dl (no, that's not in the userstyle.css), or in fact: all top margins that could possibly collapse with a bottom margin of the previous section. The new template uses bottom margins in most cases and whenever an element that is at the beginning of a section uses a top margin, it jumps. The same happens for footnotes which have a top margin of 1em, see e.g.
https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:userhistory#fn__1 - when you move the mouse over the bottom edit button, the footnotes jump down. This happens because normally the bottom margin of the last paragraph and the top margin of the footnote collapse. However when the padding of the section is set, the margins no longer collapse.
I can think of two options:
- advice all plugin authors to only use margin-bottom for elements that could be at the beginning of a section and remove the margin-top from footnotes
- give sections a very small default top and bottom padding
I don't like both of them but I think they are the only possibilities to avoid jumping when section highlights are activated (and implemented as they are currently implemented).
