FS#2381 Javascript Error in edit mode
CSS, XHTML, JS, Browsers
2011-11-16senorandy
In IE8 a clean install of Angua (default profile, bundled plugins only) throws a Javascript error when going into Edit Mode. Screenshot attached..
I can confirm this in IE 7&8, not in IE 9, haven't bothered to check IE 6 ;-). According to the IE console, it's initSizeCtl(), specifically the following line:
jQuery(document.createElement('img'))
I've just upgraded to rc2011-11-10 "Angua", and am getting this error. I've checked editor.js, and the commits referenced above are not present. Am I missing something?

@samwilson, it was fixed *after* rc2011-11-10 and will be in the final release.

Ah, I see! So does that mean the current stable version (as in, what's highlighted for download on splitbrain.org) is //not// the final release? It just seems odd that a Release Candidate would be advertised as ready for install (via the built-in upgrade announcement thingy), so I sort of assumed it was stable... I guess it's not. No worries; no harm done, I've applied the above fixes manually.

A Release Candidate is always *stable*, but never final. The point of it is to be installed by as many users as possible to be able to *make* it final. If no-one tests it in a real life environment, we would end up with the situation we had before we introduced release candidates: A final release gets pushed out and so many bugs gets found in it that a second final release follows just a few weeks afterwards. A release candidate avoids that situation.
