FS#2214 Misuse of html comment tags hides rendered paragraph but not from cut and paste
CSS, XHTML, JS, Browsers
2011-04-03ChrisFreeman
When using copy and paste on a rendered DokuWiki page, I was able to pick up a html comment paragraph not visible on the rendered page. Here is the DW page contents:
==== Title A ====
<html><!-->paragraph with dubious comment characters
You can not see this paragraph on the rendered page. It is hidden as if it were a html comment. You see this during a Copy and Paste from "Title AT through "Title B".
Dubious end of comment --></html>
Here is the main Paragraph. You only see this paragraph on the rendered page. Copy and Paste from "Title A" through "Title B" to another window (such as Notepad), and you will see an additional paragraph.
==== Title B ====
<html><!-- commented paragraph 2
This is an html commented paragraph, you should not see this on the rendered page or during a Copy and Paste of this region.
end of comment --></html>
Main Paragraph B. You can see this but not comment paragraph 2.
==== Title C ====
Changing the line:
<code>
<html><!-->paragraph with dubious comment characters
</code>
to
<code>
<html><!--paragraph with dubious comment characters
</code>
fixes the error, but it is a bug when a non-rendered paragraph becomes visible during a cut and paste.

with html parsing disabled and enabled, i cannot observe not-desired hiding of comments, or text around the comments.
