FS#2067 Inconsistent size for inline code
CSS, XHTML, JS, Browsers
2010-10-16fgm
On Firefox 3.6, inline code displays properly, at the same size as normal text.
However, on Opera 10.63 and Chrome 7.0.517.36, it displays at 120% of the size of normal text.
This appears to be a choice done in default.css as:
<code>
/* inline code words */
div.dokuwiki code {
font-size: 120%;
}
</code>
Reducing the percentage to 100% fixes the problem on Opera and Chrome but then inline code becomes smaller than normal text in FF, so the fix is likely to be more complicated.

Hakan--S on IRC reports that with the 120% setting, display is also correct on IE8/Win7.

In Google Chrome 5.0.375.29 dev on Linux the code is even smaller than the default text. I guess it's a problem with the font that is chosen, perhaps we should see if there are some monospace fonts that do work and are installed on all OS as currently from what I've seen DokuWiki doesn't specify any font for monospace text.

Fonts installed on all OS, monospace? Hardly. If having an uniform size among all browsers is the priority, taking into consideration that there is going to be a difference between browser rendering and font families used, the best choice would be to explicitly set the size using pt as a measure (eg.: 14pt).
For the record, in Opera 10.63 on Linux the code is a bit larger than the default text. Whereas Opera 10.70 devel makes it about the same size. Haven't tested any Windows version.
