FS#1915 code tag - adds newline
Backend
2010-03-04kratz00
I use the "code" tags very often in my wiki.
For example:
<code>
make install
</code>
DokuWiki generated this:
<pre class="code">
make install
</pre>
Whenever I copy and paste the text from the HTML page to somewhere else a newline is added.
DokuWiki should instead generate this:
<pre class="code">
make install</pre>
This would prevent the newline while copy and pasting the final text.
I found out I can change the position "code" tag to this:
<code>
make install</code>
then the closing "pre" tag is on the right position, right after the text.
I do not know if a user has to care about the outcome of placing the "code" tag differently.

I don't see how a newline at the end makes any difference?

Fixed in git, code tag content now strips first and last newline

It does.
For example, you some wiki page and the source looks like:
<code>
date
</code>
If I copy the text in a terminal it would be executed because of the newline.
If the page source looks like that:
<code>date</code>
I would have to press "return" to get it executed.
