FS#1811 FF 3.5.5 fails to display empty list items for default theme
CSS, XHTML, JS, Browsers
2009-12-03nikopp
A list with empty items like
- first item
-
-
- fourth item
is displayed correctly for example with IE8, i.e.
1. first item
2.
3.
4. fourth item
but with FF 3.5.5 the items 2 to 4 are collapsed:
1. first item
X. fourth item

This is not a problem of DokuWiki, but of different browser implementations.
How should an empty list item be displayed? IMHO an empty list item doesn't even make sense. Maybe that's also the reason why browsers implement it differently: All IEs and Chrome render all list items regardless of any content. But Firefox and Opera don't display them in most cases. The only thing that works for all browsers is adding a . But adding that makes even less sense ...
I think the bug is rather that DokuWiki allows empty list items at all. IMHO empty list items should be skipped.
