FS#1190 feature request - text alignment, numbered headings
Syntax
2007-07-18jas
Basic text alignment (center/left/right justify), and numbered headings are only in my opinion of course, two very simple pieces missing from the basic DokuWiki text editor. They are both available through plugins, but I really believe that this basic functionality should be directly available without installing any additional plugins. Aside from the initial implementation, I don't think there would be much in terms of developer maintenance either because I believe that the implementation would not be very large, and this code wouldn't be likely to change -- certainly no more likely than the code for inserting a regular headline or a superscript! You can already center text in a table, but you just can't do it from outside the table. You can already insert a headline, but it would just be nice to be able to automatically number it.

The last bit is a duplicate of FS#19. And the request about the text alignment is "half a duplicate" of FS#621.
(I do not close this feature request, because FS#621 was only closed in regard to image alignments.)

I still don't understand what the big deal is with respect to standard text alignment. It's availale in all other Wiki's as part of the basic system, content management systems, etc. The reason for closing "won't implement" doesn't give me any detail.

Jason, we discussed this yesterday and decided, that the simpleness of DokuWiki's syntax is a major feature. Text alignment is not needed to write simple, good looking documentation. If you need it in DokuWiki you can install a plugin.

"It's availale in all other Wiki's". Really? According to WikiMatrix (http://www.wikimatrix.org/syntax.php?i=30) just 26%(!) support all standard text alignments (and nearly half of those use only WYSIWYG editors).
