FS#1187 modify ACL plugin to displays ACLs for whole site
ACL & Authentication
2007-07-16jas
I would like to request a modification to the Dokuwiki ACL plugin in the admin panel. The present system only displays the ACLs for the current namespace which is a bit confusing since the other admin plugins refer to the "whole site". I would like to request a change to the ACL plugin so that it displays the ACLs for the whole site. Maybe, optionally, you could have an admin option that allows you to display the ACL for the current namespace at the bottom of each page in an unmodifiable form, but that part isn't necessary. Thanks! :)

I think the superacl plugin provides just what you asked for.
Correct. It does. In fact, I'm using it. However, I would like to see the ACL plugin that comes with DokuWiki replaced by SuperACL so that SuperACL does not need to be installed separately. SuperACL does exactly what I'm looking for.
Jason.

For your information: A new standard ACL plugin is in the making which will do that (among other new things).

Excellent. I hope it will replace the integrated ACL plugin. Right now, this is one of the areas of DW that my users have a hard time understanding. In particular, when you change the ACL on a namespace, I would love if it was more clear to the users how the change effects access to everything below. It would also be nice as an addition if an administrator could enter in a "username" and then see the ACL space as that user in order to see if desired changes do what they want. If someone is needed to test the new plugin, let me know.
Thanks :)

Yes, it will replace (or enhance) the integrated ACL plugin.
I agree, that the ACL plugin is (or soon: was) a major drawback of DokuWiki.
The new ACL plugin will do everything you stated (see how a rule changes other rules [at least indirectly], see what rules matches a username).
We would love tests and feedback, thanks. This new plugin will soon be added to the development version of DokuWiki. Then you (and others) can test it.
