FS#1398 Editing bug when using the columns plugin
Plugins
2008-05-05sander
DokuWiki version: Release 2007-06-26b
Editing bug when using the columns plugin:
when I use the columns plugin and select an edit icon in one of the chapters from the page (So when selecting one of the little 'edit' buttons spread across the page) the edit window does not contain the right text. It seems to contain a subset of the text from the whole page.

I just did a little test using the wiki:syntax-page on v.2008-05-04 with the latest version of the colums-plugin and it seems to work flawlessly and as expected. :-S

Apologies for the mess I made, but I guess that is what a playground is for.

This (default DokuWiki) behaviour is in fact intentional. It's called section editing (http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:section_editing). Due to the fact that your template doesn't show a default (page) edit button, you are always section editing instead of page editing.
You can try to append [?do=edit] (without brackets) to your url to "go into" page edit "mode". This works for me at your playground.
Conclusion should be imho that it's not a bug in DW-core nor the Colums-plugin. It's actually a missing feature of the used template.
You could try to use the default template to actually see the 2 different kinds of edit buttons it in.
Btw: I noticed you tried to "columnize" several h1-headings using the plugin. This is scary since this obviously conflicts with the TOC-functionalities of DW. This is visible at your playground too. See the TOC which misses the "columnized" h1-headings. I would advise to exclude headings from within <columns>...</columns> tags.
Thereby imho it wouldn't be logical (from style-perspectives) to indeed columnize several (h1-)headings... :-S

Ohh and regarding the conflict with the TOC (quotes: ...tried to "columnize" several h1-headings using the plugin... ...see the TOC which misses the "columnized" h1-headings..) I would advise to ask the author/maintainer about this.
